The ELA program includes K-2 utilizing Super Kids and grades 3-8 Houghton Mifflin Series along with Curtis Hake Grammar and Writing texts. ELA classes are to be ninety-minutes in length. ELA includes:
Reading, comprehending, and analyzing a variety of genres of literature
Writing clear and coherent sentences and paragraphs developing central ideas
Vocabulary development
D’Nealian’s Penmanship
Grammatical aspects of a sentence
Phonics
High School
Freshmen Class: English I--Literature I
Students will further develop their skills in the concepts of grammar. This course will also cover the semanitcs of writing to help students develop well-organized compositions and learn ways to communicate in the written language. Basic techniques of research will also be introduced. Additionally, students will explore some great literary classics of different genres, analyzing the texts for various literary elements.
Sophmore Class: English II--Literature II
Students will continue to develop their skills in the concepts of grammar and in the semanitcs of writing to help students develop well-organized compositions and learn ways to communicate in the written language. Reasearch papers will be more targeted and fine-tuned throughout this year. Additionally, students will continue to explore some great literary classics of different genres, analyzing the texts for various literary elements
